This Month's Spotlight of a John Basilone Detachment Member highlights the extrodinary achievments of Frank Zuccarelli. Born in Olyphant Pennsylvania Frank attented school there before coming to Bound Brook New Jersey. Frank graduated from Bound Brook High Class of 1941, in that year he was editor of the yearbook and a member of the dramatic club. Frank then joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War II.
After the War Frank graduated from the Newark School of Industrial and Fine Arts in 1949. Frank also earned a degree from Kean University in Art Education in 1975.
Frank was a successful freelance artist for many years and served as the Official artist of the United States Navy from 1968 until 1981. Frank has taught in several schools including Rutgers and the Newark School of Industrial and Fine Arts. Frank has also lectured to art students in Xian China in 1997.
Frank's various art works are on display at the United States Navy Department, Emmigrant Savings Bank in New York, the United States Coast Guard, the Schering Plough Corporation and many others.
Some of Frank's awards are the Salmagundi Club Award, Artist of the Year for the Marconi Foundation, Hall of Fame for the Pastel Society of America and most recently being inducted into the Bound Brook High School Hall of Fame.
Frank lives with his wife Audrey in Somerset.
